Sam is Chief Technology Officer at Smart where he has overseen the design and development of Keystone, the retirement technology platform used by Smart Pension in the UK, as well as a number of other financial institutions around the globe. With a background in web-based applications Sam has over 25 years building software with a focus on highly scalable customer facing solutions in the cloud.
When Smart was formed in 2014 Sam led the engineering team and the development of Keystone with an initial focus on addressing the auto enrolment legislation. This required an intuitive set of self-serve customer facing applications developed to a highly scalable design to meet the demands of a government led programme. This was complemented by a pension administration system built from the ground up and designed to automate the day-to-day tasks often seen in the industry. Keystone has evolved significantly adding a board range of pension capability and today, Sam helps to deliver Keystone for other financial institutions looking to automate workplace pensions around the globe.
