Administration Careers & Development Working Group (ACDWG)

About

The purpose of the ACDWG is to develop PASA’s position on the professionalisation of administration as a career path, including the development of a PASA accredited qualification in conjunction with PMI. The group will work to raise the profile of administration as a modern, dynamic profession encompassing a wide range of skills, from coding and project management to technology, client relationship management, and leadership.

Administration is often perceived as repetitive and process-driven, but modern administration requires a wide skill set including technology, digital tools, data management, project management, and stakeholder engagement. PASA seeks to redefine perceptions of administration, making it attractive to new entrants and existing professionals alike, while providing opportunities for personal development and career growth.

PASA has held exploratory discussions with the PMI to develop a PASA-accredited qualification for pension administrators. The objective is to offer a broad-based programme covering core administration, project management, technology, and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence.

The initiative seeks to enhance the profession’s appeal to a wider talent pool, particularly young professionals, while maintaining high standards in pension administration. PASA would own the standards and syllabus, while PMI would oversee the examination and delivery.

A PASA member survey will be conducted to gauge interest and refine the offering.
