Press Release - PASA announces Gubler as next Chair
PASA today announced that the Board has elected Kim Gubler as Chair, effective 1 January 2019.
Gubler, who has been on the Association’s Board since inception and was appointed Deputy Chair last year, takes over from Margaret Snowdon, who will remain part of PASA in the newly created non-executive role of President.
Kim Gubler commented: “We have made a huge amount of progress and are seeing greater demand for PASA’s influence in the industry than ever before. As the options available to trustees and members continue to expand and add even more complexity, the role of the administrator becomes more challenging. To some extent this leads to areas of deep technical specialism and for others it’s a broad-brush understanding. As technology is increasingly able to take over the role of the administrator, we can’t forget the how important those member facing people are in providing much needed care and guidance.
“There is still more to be done and I’m looking forward to leading the way in our continued growth and development, to ensure the industry has access to the best practice, guidance and assessment will eventually see all members receiving a consistently high standard of administration.
“I would like to thank Margaret for the immeasurable contribution she has made. Her new role means we can continue to benefit from her enthusiasm and expertise as we further broaden our reach - this is a hugely positive step for PASA.”
Margaret Snowdon commented: “As Chair, it has been a real privilege to watch PASA grow from a fledgling organisation to what is now such an influential voice in the pensions industry. We are at a pivotal point in our development and I’m honoured that the Board have chosen me to continue working alongside them in building on what we have achieved in recent years.”
Gubler became Deputy Chair in 2017. Prior to this, she was a PASA Board Director and former Chair of the joint Standards and Accreditation Committee. A founding member, she has close to 30 years’ experience within the pensions industry and has been heavily involved in establishing PASA’s accreditation process. Gubler is recognised by The Pensions Regulator as a DC specialist and is also a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute, where she sits on the Examining Board and is a Fellowship Network Ambassador.
In addition to her role at PASA, Snowdon wears many industry hats, most recently as Non-Exec Director to the pensions regulator. She was appointed an OBE in the 2010 New Year's Honours List for services to Pensioners. She strives to increase and encourage pension savings and has been at the forefront of work to protect pension scheme members from the pitfalls of pension liberation schemes.
